Children’s Week (Torbay) is much more than just one week of fun on Paignton Green in August every year. We have evolved as an organisation and now help the local community throughout the year and with the passion and enthusiasm of our volunteers aim to deliver our objectives which include:

  1. To provide an event based on Paignton Green and nearby areas during August each year, primarily based around all children having fun and happy memories that can last a lifetime for the benefit of the public/community
  2. To encourage “free play” activities throughout the Torbay community
  3. The advancement of community development through the promotion of volunteering for the publics benefit
  4. The promotion of the improvement of the community through networking with local charities, clubs and support groups; supporting the local authority and community events and ventures
  5. Tackling the issue of deprivation in the Torbay area by providing opportunities for local families to access/contact local services, support groups and information during events we hold and support
  6. To allow children to express themselves in a safe controlled environment
  7. Encouraging children to learn and develop through outdoor and creative play and activities
  8. To promote inclusivity through play and teamwork
  9. To promote environmental issues through play and activities
  10. To promote and educate people on the benefits of healthy eating through cookery and kitchen skills and encourage family members to cook together
  11. Help to remove ethnic and gender boundaries through teamwork and play

So How Do We Do This?

Our volunteers have supported other community events by providing staff to be stewards and safety marshalls.

Our volunteers have attended, or provided children’s entertainment and activities at a variety of other community events in order to aid the organisers or add to the activities offered, such as some of the following:
